What Comes Next?

So, here's my basic story... I was born near Chicago into a large and loving, mixed faith, family. I always felt blessed to be raised to recognize the importance of honoring different points of view. About halfway through my childhood, we moved to the backwoods of Connecticut where we absorbed the beauty of the natural world, only hours away from "the city that never sleeps". With a few more moves through the years, the winding road lead me through Albuquerque, Lubbock, Chicago, Denver, and now back to ABQ!

With a degree in theatre arts, and just starting a family, I spent the next years of my life becoming an early childhood movement and music specialist and learning to run a business while raising my young children.  With the changes life brings, we often have to adjust and grow. After a good look at myself and at the world around me, I've taken a leap into the film industry as the most practical place to apply my diverse skill set and get to work being a voice of compassion and safety in an uncertain world.

When my daughter was born, my phone became my primary timepiece, as I didn't want to scratch my baby with a watch. As I began teaching again, I needed to track time in a non-disruptive and consistent manner that would not distract from the lesson. I have to admit, it took me a week to remember my watch! I still laugh when I think about how the obvious eluded me when I was trying to problem solve from the wrong angle, and how simple it was once I looked at it again from the correct one.

Teaching elementary school is a similar answer to the next chapter of my life story. I'm a hard working, well organized creative professional who wants to help the underrepresented find their voice, care for others, build community, and create something new. It seems that the obvious, yet elusive, answer for this particular individual, is the exciting and dedicated world of public education. ¡Bienvenido!

"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and there is only one of you in all time. This expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. "
